Owen's 18 mo check-up

As of July 26th Owen is a year and a half. He is growing up so fast. Owen is a delight to be around, he is so friendly and loving. I enjoy his talking and giggles the most.

This las Friday was his 18 mo. check-up with Dr. Staviss. Owen, for the first time, is in the 75th percentile. He usually is in the 90th and off the charts. But he has to slow down at some point. He still eats like a horse. I've never seen someone so small eat so much but I guess he is using it all. He now has all of his teeth except for the 2 year molars. Owen's eyes look like they will stay green, which is a real surprise to me, but I love how beautiful they are. I did ask about his speech and she said that what he is doing is kind of rare but still normal and effective. What he is doing is speaking in paragraphs of jibber jabber with an occasional word that sounds like something rather than using one word well spoken at a time. He also uses lots of facial expressions, hand gestures and voice inflections when he is talking, Dr. Staviss said he is probably a really creative story teller. :) He also seems to be a good problem solver, finding "work arounds" to get what he wants or needs.

So, as usual, I'm real happy with how well Owen is growing and developing, he is a great kid.

Consignment Sale Follow-up

If you are confused about my last entry - a consignment sale is where families in the area bring their baby, children, and maternity things to sell. It's kind of like a massive garage sale. So I was shopping for Owen, trying to get clothes for the fall and winter and of course toys.

So I didn't get anymore sleep that night but I was a little happy to hear that I was not the only one. Another lady who was in line said the same thing. So my neighbor Rhonda and I went together to the sale. We were at the front of the line, there were about 70 people behind us, the more that showed up the happier we were that we arrived early. I went straight for the Cozy Coup and then for a slide then I moved quickly inside to find the table and chairs I wanted were gone so I went for the diaper bag, it was there, the rug with street designs was gone, but I did get the step stool and then I went back outside and got a different table. After I got all those items I was relaxed and happy to continue shopping. I got some shoes, toys and clothing. :) After we had been there for about an hour the sellers were allowed in (about 450 people) and then it was really crowded. We spent all three hours there and got some awesome deals. Shirts for a dollar type of great deals. :)

I'm glad to finally have some age appropriate toys for Owen. He seems happy about it too. As you can see they don't have a home yet, so now I will start the big project of rearranging toys and packing away the baby tots for the future Trent kids.

I can't sleep

I've been up for an hour now, wanting to go back to sleep. The only reason I wake up is usually for Owen, but tonight I can't sleep for the excitement for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the All 4 Kids consignment sale and since I volunteered with product placement just a few hours ago I know where things are that I really want to buy and I'm so focused on getting a great deal that it has woke me from my sleep. I've tried singing songs in my mind, I drew out a map with my game plan, I've paced the house and tried laying in bed for an hour and nothing is working. So now you get to hear about it. I have a short list of "must haves" but since I am in the 5pm pre-sale there will be other shoppers there before me and I have no idea if my items will still be there. I hope so but if not, the world will go on so I wish I could use that knowledge to put me at ease and let me sleep. I think I will go have some cereal.

I realized that I have been keeping so busy that I haven't posted anything interesting. So... We have just been up to the normal things for the most part. For Owen playtime, nap time, more play time, bath time and bed time. Me, I have been trying to organize the house, paint and keep on my walking schedule. Garett is still enjoying work and now has a new project of working on a mini van that was generously given to us. We are excited to be able to get around more easily than we do now.

New Look

So I decided to go for a new look for my website. It was easy since I had step by step instructions and Garett to help. :) I like it, hope you do to.

How we spent Independence Day

We started off the morning with a walk, mowing the lawn and some gardening. After getting all cleaned up we all headed to the Woodstock parade that started at 10 am. Were sitting close to where the parade ended so we had to wait longer. It was fun for a while but once the heat got to us we decided to leave. We went and bought Garett a pair of shoes and then went home for lunch and a nap. Once we woke up we got some sides ready for the BBQ we had with our neighbors and the partied the evening away. The kids had a wonderful time playing together and the food was great. Later in the evening we all sat in the drive way and lit up some legal fireworks and enjoyed all the illegal ones our neighbors had. It was a good time. But most importantly it was a day for remembering that we live in a free country that men and women have given everything to protect. I truly appreciate everyone who has and does serve to protect our lives and freedom. It's a great sacrifice.

Summer Time

We have been keeping busy here with house projects and a wonderful visit from Taylor. She stayed with us for a week. We went to all of the neatest parks and to the pool nearly everyday, we saw wild turkeys at the library and had fun spending time together. I loved how Owen would just follow her around everywhere. He thought she was the neatest thing ever. This past weekend Garett's grandfather was in town so he came to visit with Jerome, Yen and Ashton. While they were there Heidi and Mya came to pick up Taylor so we made a night of it and had lots of fun.
